What is said is only part of the story. How the comments are made and
where they have come from are the important insights. What is the non
verbal leakage that is going on i.e. the body language that we can’t
control? This is very important and highlights any differences between
what is said and what is actually done/believed.
What language has been used e.g. are the comments stemming from the
past or looking more to the future? How descriptive are they? Is it
an effort to discuss this subject or do words and actions flow freely?
The skill lies in observing and listening, being sensitive and intuitive
to mood changes and the non verbal leakage. Then bringing them altogether
and delivering the findings in a clear and informative manner. |
